Being one of the largest investment companies in Lithuania, ZIA Valda continues the tradition of responsible business by contributing to various public projects.

We focus on our social investments in education, healthcare, sports and social care projects. So far we have already supported multiple cultural projects, education institutions and various social initiatives.



Support for the Prienai-Birštonas basketball club ‘Vytautas‘ and basketball players Ball brothers
The support by Gediminas Ziemelis, Chairman of the Board of ZIA Valda, for the Prienai-Birštonas basketball club ‘Vytautas’ helped to attract USA basketball players, brothers LiAngelo and LaMelo Ball to the team. The joining of the world-class basketball celebrities to the Lithuanian club is an extraordinary event in the history of the Lithuanian basketball. The players not only enriched the club ‘Vytautas’ with the experience and victories of the American basketball but also their joining will help to spread the name of Lithuania all over the world. 

Support for the Kaunas basketball club ‘Zalgiris‘
Gediminas Ziemelis, Chairman of the Board of ZIA Valda, is one of the general sponsors of the oldest Lithuanian basketball club ‘Zalgiris‘. G. Ziemelis not only supports the club financially but he also supported ‘Zalgiris‘ by providing a business class ‘Boeing 737’ aircraft which allows the players to travel to the competitions. The exclusive 56 seats business class aircraft is specially designed for the tall basketball players to make their travels more comfortable and less exhausting. 

Support for Lithuanian Olympics boxing team athletes
Gediminas Ziemelis, Chairman of the Board of ZIA Valda, has supported the reviving Lithuanian boxing. The financial support was provided for Evaldas Petrauskas, a multiple champion of Lithuanian and European boxing, 2012 Olympics bronze medal winner. In addition, the support was provided for an evolving boxer Tadas Tamasauskas, a multiple Lithuanian and European prize-winning boxer. Both athletes are actively preparing for the upcoming 2016 Olympics. 

Support for racer Kasparas Navickas
Kasparas Navickas is a Lithuanian autocross and rally cross, as well as Nordic cross-country rally championship participant and winner. Having started his sports career in 2011, in just three years Kasparas became the rally cross champion of Lithuania and the Baltic States, as well as and the runner-up of the Nordic cross-country rally championship.
In 2014 K. Navickas successfully participated in the European rally cross championship. The seventeen-year-old became the youngest participant in the championship and became the youngest racer to win the prize in one of the rounds. Gediminas Ziemelis, Chairman of the Board of ZIA Valda, supported K. Navickas in participation in one of the six championship rounds.

Support for the basketball club ‘Vanagai BC’
Basketball in Lithuania is loved and played by practically everyone. The young players of the basketball club based in Vilnius know the sweet taste of victory, holding the trophy of the Northern European Youth Basketball League (NEYBL) on their shelves.
The club has helped to unearth some major Lithuanian basketball talent. The globally renowned player, Jonas Valanciunas, spent a season playing for ‘Vanagai BC’ before joining ‘Lietuvos Rytas’ and signing the contract with the National Basketball Association (NBA) club ‘Toronto Raptors’ for the upcoming season.

Cooperation with the Wroclaw basketball club ‘Slask’
In 2011, one of the companies managed by Gediminas Ziemelis, Chairman of the Board of ZIA Valda, became the sponsor of the Wroclaw basketball club ‘Slask’.




Cooperation with the Rimantas Kaukenas‘ support group
In 2012 Rimantas Kaukenas, the defender of the national Lithuanian basketball team, established the charity and support group ‘Rimantas Kaukenas‘ support group‘. The main objective of the group is to help children with oncological diseases by providing moral and financial support for the children and their families. Since the establishment of the group, Gediminas Ziemelis, Chairman of the Board of ZIA Valda, is one of the most significant sponsors whose support is important for providing the patients with the necessary medical equipment, non-reimbursed medicine and organization of children’s leisure activities and entertainment.

School bus donation to children school Dedovskaja
Dedovskaja is a boarding-school in the outskirts of Moscow built almost half a century ago. It houses over 100 children, from which more than 20 kids have no family members whatsoever. Therefore, volunteers and the staff are doing their best to establish a stronger ground for the future of these children. Talking, discussing as well as playing with them teaches kids the importance of listening, expressing themselves and socializing, while workshops give them an idea of what they could become later in the future and uncovers their hidden skills and features. 

Located 38 km from Moscow, Dedovskaja boarding-school will now be able to conduct visits and educational trips. With the donated yellow school bus pupils are already planning their excursions. Showing their appreciation for the support, children have made paintings and photographs, which will be a great memory of their thankfulness and joy. 

Support for the charitable fund ‘Jiezno Vaikai’ (‘The Children of Jieznas’), Jieznas Children’s Home
The charitable fund ‘Jiezno Vaikai’ was established in 2002. It attends to the needs of orphans and children from at-risk families living in the Jieznas Children’s Home, Kaunas orphanage ‘Atzalynas’ and Vilnius Children’s Home ‘Gile’. The activities of ‘Jiezno Vaikai’ include organizing various lectures on a wide range of topics to orphaned children, providing them with free books, arranging trips to theatres and initiating creativity contests. The fund encourages less advantaged children to learn and improve, take interest in their future and become self-sufficient persons; therefore, the fund prioritizes education and comprehensive teaching.

The Jieznas Children’s Home is a state-funded social trust and upbringing institution. It is aimed at orphans and children whose parents cannot provide them with adequate educational means.

One of the supporters and organizers of the charitable foundation ‘Kaimo Vaikai’ (‘The Village Children’)
For over 15 years now the charitable foundation ‘The Village Children’ has been initiating and implementing projects aimed at supporting youth in rural areas. It cooperates with the Help for the Lithuanian Orphans Committee (USA), R.Somkaite’s charity foundation (USA), the Lithuanian National Translator’s TV program ‘Bedu Turgus’ as well as the municipalities of the country’s cities and villages. Every year the fund pays for around 30 scholarships for the students of Lithuanian universities from poor, at-risk or socially vulnerable families and orphans. Moreover, it organizes charitable events to support orphanages, village schools and their libraries, private children’s homes, families with many children or those who are faced with problems due to natural disasters or accidents. The fund also financially supports summer camps for youth in rural areas.

Support for the Vilkaviskis ‘Ausros’ gymnasium
Vilkaviskis ‘Ausros’ gymnasium is a Lithuanian secondary school, established in 1979. In 2009 it was awarded the status of a gymnasium. It aims at creating an attractive and academically appealing environment for learning and improving as well as gaining the right skills for young people to find their place in life and seek a successful career in a desirable field.




Support to famous Lithuanian guitarist, Aurelijus Globys
Endeavoring to enhance guitar music in Lithuania, Gediminas Ziemelis, Chairman of the Board of ZIA Valda, has supported a famous Lithuanian musician, Aurelijus Globys in acquiring a new state-of-the-art instrument.

Aurelijus Globys is a graduate of the J. Tallat-Kelpsa Conservatory. In 1994 Aurelijus began his career as a professional musician and has since performed with such well-known Lithuanian bands as Pelenai and ОК, as well as participated in the performing arts projectsViengungiai and Keistuoliai. In 1996 Aurelijus and his colleague Vladas Kovaliovas from the band Volis created a new music project Nacija. In the year 2000 Aurelijus began his solo career with the phocus on promoting  flamenco music and culture in the country and abroad. Mr. Globys often performs with the Lithuanian State Symphony Orchestra’s virtuoso violinist Zbigniew Lewicki.

Donation for the treatment of maestro Vytautas Kernagis
Gediminas Ziemelis, Chairman of the Board of ZIA Valda, had financially contributed to the social initiative aimed at collecting funds for the treatment of maestro Vytautas Kernagis, who sadly lost his battle against cancer in 2008.




The foundation ‘Fundacja Mimo Wszystko’
The charitable Anna Dymna foundation ‘Against the Odds’ was established in 2003 in Krakow, Poland. It is focused on supporting severely ill and disabled people. Whilst arranging various conferences and gatherings which promote integration and social initiatives, the fund actively cooperates with non-governmental organizations, state and medical institutions.

Support for the ‘Full House Community’
The ‘Full House Community’ is a catholic association uniting believers. Its mission is to ensure that a person experiencing troubles in his/her life can find the serenity and faith within the community where one can be evangelized, released from addictions and prepared for a return to independent life or even to choose a path as a server of God.

Commendation for supporting the improvement of Lithuanian-Polish relations
The purpose of The Adomas Mickevicius Foundation for the Support of Lithuanian-Polish relations is to promote a positive relationship between Lithuania and Poland while developing and strengthening mutual cooperation. One of the objectives is to evaluate the issue of straining relations between the two nations through the prism of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, which once unified the destiny of the nations. Gediminas Ziemelis, Chairman of the Board of ZIA Valda, being the general sponsor of the first Jerzy Giedroyc Dialogue and Cooperation Forum, has already assigned LTL 50,000. He continues expressing his active support and was a general sponsor of Jerzy Giedroyc award-giving ceremony in 2014 thus financially contributing to the improvement of relations between Lithuania and Poland.
